Enrollment
Status Change (Credit/Audit)
The Engineering Online program has developed a special form for students to complete if they need for some reason to change their registration status. Fill out the form below if you need to change your status (withdraw from the University if you are only registered in one class, drop a class if you are registered in more than one class, or change from credit to audit). Complete the form and fax it to the office at (919) 515-8415. No action will be taken on any request until this form is received in the office. The forms will be date-stamped when they arrive in the office for refund determination.

Note: On the NCSU campus the term withdrawal refers to a student wishing to leave the university and withdraw from class or classes enrolled. A drop refers to a student who is enrolled in one or more classes. A student who is only enrolled in one course is officially “withdrawing” from the class and the University.

Students who have been admitted to Engineering Online degree programs and wish to “withdraw” from the semester must contact the Counseling Center first before completing the EOL Student Enrollment Status Change Form. The phone number for the Center is (919) 515-2423. If you have questions about this process, please contact your graduate advisor.

Drops and
Withdrawals

In the event that you need to drop or withdraw from an Engineering Online course, please submit the Change of Status form. Complete the form and fax it to the Office of Distance Education. Please note that refunds for drops will only be given for courses dropped on or before the last day to drop a course with a refund. It is considered that after the last day of the official drop period a student has become a partner in an implied contract with the University to continue until the end of the semester. Therefore, withdrawals without academic penalty are granted only when exceptional circumstances exit.

Students requesting to drop an Engineering Online course will be required to pay the same drop fees of those students registered on-campus. The following schedule will be used to determine the amount of refund each student is entitled to. Drop requests will not be processed until all course materials are returned to the Engineering Online office. The refund schedule can be found here.
