Computer Programming Certificate Overview |
For the past 17
years the Computer Science Department has offered the Computer
Programming Certificate program (CPC) to PBS Lifelong Education
Students to enable them to achieve a variety of professional goals. The
CPC has been very successful at helping students who have a Bachelors
degree change careers, enhance their professional credentials or simply
learn more about computer programming.
To better meet the flexible access needs of adult learners across the state, the CPC has transitioned from a traditional, campus-based program to a Distance Education program.

How it Works |
After successfully completing CSC 114, contact Dr. Barbara Adams to be admitted into the CPC program. Once you have completed all of the required courses, contact Dr. Adams and your transcript will be updated to reflect your certificate acquisition. At that time, you will receive a Computer Programming Certificate suitable for framing. Professional Certificate Undergraduate Students

Course Offerings/ Certificate Requirements |
Courses are offered in the Fall, Spring, and Summer (subject to funding). If demand is strong then some or all of the courses will be offered over the 10-week summer session as well. Since these courses are time-intensive, it is recommended that you take only one course per semester if you are employed full-time. The program consists of the following required courses (21 hours total): MA
121 *Intro. to Calculus (or any college calculus course)(3) OPTIONAL: CSC257 Introduction to Java Please see individual course descriptions for requirements and prerequisites. Students must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher in the CPC classes to be awarded the certificate. |
