NEW NC Space Grant Schlorship

NC Space Grant is currently soliciting proposals and applications from students at its member institutions in the following areas to promote research, education, and understanding of complex aerospace-related issues.  During 2009-2010, NC Space Grant will provide over $180,000 in fellowship and scholarship support for graduate and undergraduate students.  Awards are for summer or academic support ranging from $1000 to $8000.  Please share these opportunities ...

NEW MUST Schlorship

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is sponsoring the Motivating Undergraduates in Science and Technology (MUST) Program, offering support to undergraduate students in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines across the United States. Program participants receive a scholarship, NASA internship and access to a wealth of professional development opportunities.

 

The Program offers:

A one year competitive scholarship covering up to one-half of tuition and fees, not to exceed $10,000 per academic year. The scholarship is renewable through the student's junior year pro-vided that all eligibility criteria continue to be met. Support from MUST Professional and Academic Support System (PASS) providing scholars with an online student community and professional development/leadership training.

A $6,000 (10-week summer internship stipend) to participate plus transportation and location allowance not to exceed $1,000. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a paid intern-ship at one of ten nationwide NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) centers.  Invaluable resources, insight, and experience to further STEM education and career aspirations from the MUST Consortium, comprised of three member organizations: theHispanic College Fund, the United Negro College Fund Special Programs Corporation, and theSociety of Hispanic Professional Engineers.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

·       Must be a U.S. citizen. Students from underrepresented groups (women, minorities, persons with disabilities, and individuals from rural and low-income communities) are encouraged to apply.

·       Must reside in the United States or a U.S. Territory.

·       Be a college freshman, sophomore or junior and hold full-time academic status at an accredited college or university for the 2009-2010 academic year.

·       Must earn and maintain a cumulative grade point average of no less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (un-weighted).

·       Must be enrolled in STEM disciplines whose majors are aligned with NASA's core competencies (physical science, technology, engineering, or mathematics degree).

 East Carolina Engineers Club Annual Scholarship Program (Nov 30 deadline)

The East Carolina Engineers Club Annual Scholarship Program is currently taking applications for students who are currently enrolled or plan to attend an engineering program. The scholarship program is designed to annually grant a total scholarship amount of at least $1000 to students at colleges in eastern North Carolina.

Eligibility criteria includes:

·       Student must be enrolled in a pre-engineering college transfer curriculum    or engineering program.

·       Reside within eastern North Carolina.

·       While a grade average of 3.0 or better is desired, students with a lesser grade average are eligible.  The grade qualifications will be determined by the Scholarship committee on an individual basis with the Executive Committee having final approval.

·       Students must have a financial need in order to be considered.

Department Of Defense “SMART” Scholarship

SMART is part of the National Defense Education Program. Students who are selected to participate in this program earn tuition and education expenses, along with cash awards ranging from $25,000 to $41,000 per year, depending on prior educational experience. Applications will be accepted until mid-December, with award notification occurring each spring.  For additional information, please visit the SMART website at http://www.asee.org/smart .If you need money and would be willing to work for the DOD for a few years, this looks like a great opportunity when you get to state.
