     CSC 251 Web Page Development
 

Syntax and semantics of HTML (HyperText Markup Language). Students will learn necessary skills to develop web pages on their EOS/Unity account. In addition to mechanics, design aspects and bandwidth conservancy are covered. Several pages will be created including a final project. An introduction to JavaScript and CSS will be included. 1 credit hour

 
     

Prerequisite
 

E 115 or equivalent knowledge of EOS/Unity system.

 

Course Objectives  

To learn the basics of web page design by understanding the mechanics and
application of manually coding HTML tags, as opposed to using an HTML generator.

Course Requirements  

Grading:
8 Homeworks @ 3.75% each
1 Final Project @ 50%
1 Final Exam @ 20%

Grade Scale
S - Successfully completed course (70%)
U - Did not successfully completed course (<70%)
I am not planning to allow audits. You must turn in all HW and make >= 70 on the project to pass. No late assignments are accepted.


Computer and Internet Requirements

  • Silverlight  (viewers may be prompted to install this when first viewing a presentation)

  • NOTE:  The Flip4Mac plug-in causes problems when viewing Mediasite presentations and should be disabled.

Linux:

  • Playback of Mediasite presentations on Linux is accomplished via the Moonlight Project, an open source implementation of Microsoft Silverlight. For more installation on the installation and configuration of Moonlight, please visit http://www.go-mono.com/moonlight/. The compatible operating systems and browsers are listed on this page.
