Unity ID and Password Needed to Access
Pack Tracks

Your Unity ID
Your Unity ID is automatically generated and is based upon your first and middle initial and the first six letters of your last name (all lowercase). A typical login generally consists of a student's first and middle initial and the first six letters of the last name. For individuals who have a common last name (Smith, Jones, Johnson, etc.), the computer may have given a number to add to the end of the ID. For example, John F. Smith may have the ID jfsmith5 if there are already 4 John F. Smiths in the system. If you cannot successfully log into the system, please contact the NC State Help Desk at help@ncsu.edu or 919-515-HELP[4357]. Your UnityID will remain the same throughout the time you are affiliated with NC State and should not be shared with others.

Previously enrolled students will continue to use their old network ID. You can also send an email to help@ncsu.edu if you continue to have problems accessing the network.

Your Password
NCSU has implemented a new account system which will rely on the Campus ID Number to identify Unity account holders. Beginning October 13, 2004 all new accounts created in the Unity system will have an initial password that consists of the last four digits of the Campus ID number plus the month and day (mmdd) of the account holder' birthday. Additionally, this new password will serve as the default system password to be used whenever an account password needs to be reset by a system administrator.

For example, if a new student's Campus ID is 000001234 and his or her birthday is July 28, the initial and default Unity password will be 12340728. The new password will also be assigned to existing Unity accounts that have never been used.

For your account security, your password must remain private. After you have successfully logged into the campus network, it is imperative that you change your password at http://www.ncsu.edu/password . You should change it the first time you log on to your account and at least once a semester. If you need assistance with your password, you must contact the NC State Help Desk at help@ncsu.edu or 919-515-HELP[4357].
