Professional Development

Being an engineer is an enormous responsibility. Engineers construct buildings, design national infrastructures, build weaponry, develop life-saving medical equipment, and are responsible for the millions of technological innovations we encounter throughout our lives. Consciously or unconsciously, an average person in the developed world entrusts his or her life and well-being to the skills of a Professional Engineer many times each day.

Recognizing the great responsibility that engineers bear, North Carolina law reserves the title of "engineer” for those with extensive education and experience in engineering, along with a demonstrated mastery of the field. In North Carolina, no person may practice engineering, as defined in G.S. 89C, or claim to be a Professional Engineer unless he or she is duly licensed. Licensure for engineers is a multi-step process, involving both qualifying examinations to gain licensure and life-long study to keep credentials current.

Engineering Online is committed to helping engineering professionals both acquire professional licensure, and maintain it by keeping their skills up-to-date. To do this, Engineering Online offers:
