CSC 591 616 Applied AI to Industry
3 Credit Hours
The objective of this course is to provide students with knowledge on essential aspects required to successfully implement Artificial Intelligence in industry. In addition to the theoretical concepts discussed, the instructor, who has over 30 years of experience applying AI in industry, will discuss how this theory applies to solve industry problems. In addition to the traditional Data Science, Machine Learning, and Generative AI, the course will guide students on how to use and implement new emerging AI areas such as Agentic AI.
Prerequisites
CSC 411 and CSC 422.
It is expected that students will have Machine Learning, Statistics, Software Development, and Software Engineering knowledge.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Generate the Delivery Offer for Industrial Project Owners of an applied AI industrial project
- Develop a Blueprint plan for the AI project
- Evaluate the relevant data required to carry out the AI project
- Analyze and evaluate the data quality available for the AI project
- Develop a project Requirements Documentation
- Create a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for the applied AI project
- Describe the importance of developing responsible and ethical AI systems
- Explain the relevance of Intellectual Property in Applied AI projects
- Develop and create an Executive Final Presentation for Senior Managers on the project
Important Note: Projects for the class will be based on real world industrial problems from real industrial plants and generated data, where students will work with the project sponsors. The instructor will guide the students on how to interact with the industrial project owners in the different phases of the project.
