Getting Started
Ready to start sharpening your skills in an Engineering Online program or course? Here’s how.
Apply Yourself
As one of the nation’s longest-serving engineering distance education programs, Engineering Online has the experience to help you be successful as an online student. Submitting an application is your first step toward an NC State engineering online master’s degree or certificate. You can also apply as a non-degree student if you just want to take an online class.
Admission standards vary across our 19 graduate degree programs, but all applications to master’s programs go through the Graduate School. Learn more about the Graduate School’s process for receiving and reviewing applications. Include in your personal statement information about your current engineering position, why you are interested in the degree program and how you feel it would help you with your current or future personal and career goals.
Prior to entering our computer programming certificate program (CPC) or signing up for individual online courses, you will need to apply for admission as a non-degree graduate student. Complete the information on the Engineering Online registration portal and directions concerning completion of the non-degree application will be sent to you. This special application, if completed correctly, will not require you to pay the application fee. The CPC program and courses are for individuals who have already completed an undergraduate degree.
Once you have been accepted, either into a master’s program or as a non-degree student, you will need to enroll and sign up for courses via Engineering Online.
