Nation-Leading Programs

As a career engineer, you have become a lifelong learner. You are also a busy person, working to create sound transportation systems, better planes, secure computer networks or a smarter energy grid. Your work demands a full-time focus; that is why anytime, anyplace online graduate study may be your best bet to stay on top of professional trends. Or set those trends yourself.

NC State Engineering Online is NC State engineering — online. As a distance engineering student, you will learn from the same world-leading faculty, complete the same rigorous assignments and build the same skills as our on-campus students. Whether you are in a classroom on Centennial Campus or in your home office, you are still a part of Wolfpack engineering, and your degree signals mastery of engineering fundamentals and emerging trends.

We offer online options in 19 engineering and computer science master’s programs. In its most recent ranking of graduate schools, U.S. News & World Report rated NC State among the nation’s top universities for nuclear engineering, industrial engineering, materials engineering and chemical engineering.

NC State has deep roots in distance engineering education, with programs dating back to the late 1970s. And we pair that experience with excellence: U.S. News recently ranked us on the top online graduate engineering in the nation.

Courses to Keep You Current

A master’s degree is not the only path to professional development. If you are looking to pick up a particular skill in your engineering discipline or try online learning before committing to a graduate program, a single course or series of courses may be the right option.

Our courses offer total flexibility, with lectures available via streaming video and assignments submitted electronically. They also offer an opportunity to interact with our expert faculty and experience NC State engineering before applying for admission as a graduate student.

We also offer a 21-hour computer programming certificate (CPC) to help current and future computing professionals stay current in their ever-evolving field. The CPC program includes courses in math and computer science, covering topics from the fundamentals of calculus to the nuances of different operating systems.
