MAE 586 Project Work in Mechanical Engineering
3 Credit Hours
MAE 586 is a 3-credit required course for receiving a non-thesis MS degree. This course is meant to allow the student to use knowledge gained from lecture courses in the MSME or MSAE program. We encourage students to come up with their own ideas first by writing a proposal and submit it to faculty who have aligned research areas with you and/or faculty that you took classes with.

Course Objectives
Individual investigation of a problem stemming from a mutual student-faculty interest. Emphasis on providing a situation for exploiting student curiosity.
Course Outline
- Submit the project interests on the first day of the semester
- Develop project proposals and reach out to desired faculty mentors on the 7th day of the semester
- Mid-term Report
- Final Report
Course Requirements
At least 18 credits hours should be completed prior to taking MAE 586.
