  • NC State Office of Information Technology does not give official recommendations for computer purchasing, but does provide guidelines for personally owned computers.
  • The College of Engineering provides Minimum and Recommended specifications for computers to use for engineering courses.
  • It is highly recommended that you have a digital scanner with a resolution of at least 300 dpi if you need to scan homework assignments done on paper and submit them to your instructor. All assignments must be submitted electronically.
  • All online students must have access to a computer with a high-speed internet connection.  A quick way to test your system is to view a lecture from the sample catalog.  If you are able to smoothly stream the sample lectures, your computer meets the minimum requirements to access our online courses.
