Course Lecture Viewing Tips
Read our tips for watching Engineering Online lecture recordings and get answers to some frequently asked questions.
- View the sample catalog for examples of recorded lectures.
- To access recordings for your current semester’s courses, go to Student Resources -> Online Course Homepages or Site Course Homepages, then click the link for your course. Click the Lecture Videos button and authenticate with your UnityID and password. From there, you can view or download the notes for your course.
- By default, you only see 25 results per page, but you can change that at the bottom of the screen. You may want to change this to 50 or 150 so you can see the entire list on one page and don’t miss any recordings.
- The recordings in that Panopto course folder will be displayed and you can click the Sort by button to sort recordings by Name, Duration or Date. Name will usually be the most helpful way to sort your recordings.

- Click on the presentation title or video thumbnail to begin streaming a lecture.
- NOTE – once registered for a course, it will take 1-2 business days for you to gain access to the lecture recordings for your class(es), so be aware of this if you are registering for a course late.

- Highlights of key Panopto Video Viewer features:
- Lectures are recorded in synced dual video with one video stream of content (larger by default) and one of the instructor.
- Swap which stream is larger by clicking on the arrow button.
- Video streams dynamically resize when you change the size of your browser window.
- Click on the backward-pointing arrow on the left side of the viewer controls to skip back in 10-second increments. Also, use the left keyboard arrow to skip back 10 seconds.
- Click on the forward-pointing arrow on the left side of the viewer controls to skip ahead in 10-second increments. Also, use the right keyboard arrow to jump forward 10 seconds.
- To control the playback speed, select the gear icon in the viewer controls and select Speed. Interval options are between .5x and 2x with normal speed set to 1x.
- When the instructor creates written notes during the lecture, those notes are scanned and uploaded within 1 business day. Notes are attached to the lecture recording and can be viewed by clicking on the .pdf icon on the right side of the viewer controls. To return to viewing the content stream, clock on the content button beside the .pdf icon. Those buttons are not present if there are no notes files attached to a lecture recording.
